Of Course You Think You Know The News
How many car crashes are taking place, right now? How many robberies?
How many basketball games are being played? How many politicians are giving speeches?
I’m in the tiny town of Podgorac, Serbia. There’s one restaurant on the main street. This restaurant has a television, and it’s always playing Serbian TV.

A Serbian basketball ‘Super Star’ league game…
-
Traditionally dressed Serbian singers, dancing in a line…
-
Someone in a suit, saying something important…

The World Is Brimming With News
CNN, FOX, NPR, the BBC… how many 3-letter news stations are there?
There is probably at least 1 big news station per country, which means that watching 1 true day of ‘news’ would take you over a year.
Your news may be perfectly ethical, impartial, independent journalism… but it’s just not enough!
The news you know is a sliver of the articles reported on by your station, chosen from their list of ‘potentially newsworthy’ stories, which itself encompasses an incomprehensibly small list of world events actually happening.
You may think you know the news, but from school shootings to Serbian folk festivals, it’s simply impossible!
It’s not the fault of unethical reporters or spin-doctor politicians.
