Get Up
Sometimes hard work isn’t enough.
You can work your butt off. You can get up early, work harder, stay later, and focus more intently, but sometimes it just won’t be enough.
You really can give something your all and come out empty handed. You can push yourself to the edge, and try to be the best in the business…. and still fail.
Even though you know you did your best….. the failure will hurt. You may be confused. You may doubt yourself. Everything you have ever done or believed may come into question.
Failure is painful, and it can hurt like a disease.
I have only found one cure.
“Get up.”
Do it again. Figure out why you failed and hit it again.
“Get up.”
Don’t let the past define you.
“Get up.”
Quit feeling sorry for yourself.
“Get up.”
Stop crying. Take some time to think and then jump back into action.
“Get up.”
Okay, everything you tried in the past didn’t work. You have more to learn.
“Get up.”
If somebody is going to make this work, it’s going to be you. Not your mom, not your dad…. you.
“Get up.”
How do you feel? Bad? Oh I’m sorry, we all feel bad sometimes.
“Get up.”
Others don’t believe in you. So what? Nobody believes in you as much as you need to believe in yourself.
“Get up.”
Figure out what you need to learn. Learn it. Get better.
“Get up.”
What? Do you plan on just giving up? Do you plan on curling up into a ball to protect your feelings? How long can that last?
“Get up.”
Try it again. You only lose when you stop playing.
“Get up.”
Did you have confidence once? Will you have confidence again?
“Get up.”
Take action. Jump back in it. Are you ready to hit it again? Give it all you’ve got? Conquer this defeat so that you know in your heart that nothing, ever, can keep you down for good? Are you able to land on your back so that even when you’re down you can continue to look up?
“Get up.”
Who are you?
“GET UP!”
[…] It can even feel wrong. And yes, it can even feel ‘risky’… Like you’ll be knocked down without a chance to get up. […]
